Over the years I’ve had probably 30 different computer bags. Some of them died so I threw them away. Some of them just well seemed not to do what I wanted so I got rid of them. I vary between rolling and backpacks. I have had huge bags and small bags but I just can’t find the right bag.

A long time ago I sent Targus an idea of mine – built in power, network hub and room for two computers. I’ve seen bags that were nearly that – but not quite that. But I have moved on from that idea.

My perfect bag – (or what I did with my summer vacation)

  • Room for large and small laptops
  • Powercord built in
  • cord management system built in
  • cord and other device storage systems built in (smaller bags you can take out). I’ve been using airplane business class bags for years – but at some point those wear out.
  • padded shoulder pads (if it’s a backpack)
  • single strap (padded) if it is a rolling bag for those times you can use a rolling bag…

Not sure why no one can fill this – but so far I haven’t found that bag. I’ve seen Tumi’s that come close – but when you are talking about 300 bucks for a bag – close doesn’t cut it.

I guess, my quest continues for my fair bag (Dulcina).

I am moving to the ASUS Slate

So I’ve finally decided. It took me awhile and the Ipod v2 almost pulled me in. But in the end I am going for the flexibility, expandability and functionality of a windows slate. There is only one out there right now – the ASUS ED121 that fits the bill.

It took me a long time and the long tendrils of the apple world kept pulling me back. I was a Mac guy 20 years ago and the metaphor there is familiar. But I realized that while the longer battery life of the iPod was nice, the flexibility of adding storage, having the same functionality as a laptop and the external keyboard were more ultimately than I could turn down. My life is on my PC now – and this gives me ample options for storing additional items going forward.

One decision down – 10 to go. Like what to have for dinner tonight?
